Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders were a British beat group active from 1963 to 1965. They were part of the mid-1960s British Invasion, achieving significant success in the US charts with their major hit "The Game of Love." The band was founded in June 1963 by Glyn Geoffrey Ellis (1945-2020) along with other members, inspired by the title of the 1963 UK feature film "The Mind Benders." Prior to this group, Fontana had been part of a band called Wayne Fontana and the Jets. After a tour of America, Fontana left the band during a concert in 1965, after which the remaining members decided to continue as a trio.
