Wayne Shorter was an American jazz saxophonist and composer, born on August 25, 1933, in Newark, New Jersey. He passed away on March 2, 2023, in Los Angeles, California. Shorter was a member of three seminal jazz groups of the 20th century, including the Jazz Messengers. He was a long-standing collaborator with notable musicians and won 11 Grammy awards, along with a lifetime achievement Grammy. He was also the brother of trumpeter.
