We the People were an American garage rock band formed in late 1965 in Orlando, Florida. The band was professionally active from 1966 to 1970. Although none of their singles charted nationally in the U.S., several reached the Top 10 on local Orlando charts. They are best remembered for their song "Mirror of Your Mind," which achieved Top 10 status on various regional singles charts across the U.S. in 1966. The band consisted of several members over the years, including an organist, bassist, guitarist, lead guitarist, and drummers. Notable members included Tom Wynn on drums in 1966, Terry Cox who played drums from 1967 to 1970, and Carl Chambers who played guitar from 1968 to 1969. In an interview, Wayne Proctor shared the story of how the band was formed. He was previously in a band in Clermont, Florida, and along with keyboard player and singer Randy Boyte, they met with David Duff, Tommy Talton, and Tom Wynn from another band called the Offbeets. They decided to form a new band and practiced in a garage owned by Randy's father. During a brainstorming session for a band name, Proctor was inspired by the preamble to the United States Constitution hanging on the wall of the garage. He suggested the name "We the People," which was well-received by the group and became the band's official name.
