Web Pierce was an American country musician known for charting more number one hits than any other country artist during the 1950s. His biggest hit, "In The Jailhouse Now," spent an impressive 21 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard charts in 1955. Posthumously, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in October 2001 and is also a member of the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. Additionally, he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame located at 1600 Vine Street. Born on August 8, 1921, in West Monroe, Louisiana, he passed away on February 24, 1991, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the father of a country singer who was part of the all-female group Chantilly.
