Whitney Houston was an American singer, songwriter, model, and actress, born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. She passed away on February 11, 2012, in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, at the age of 48 due to drowning. Discovered at the age of 14, Whitney sang with her mother on the track "Life's A Party." She made her television debut on April 29, 1983, on "The Merv Griffin Show," where she performed "Home" from the musical "The Wiz" after signing a recording deal with Clive Davis and Arista Records. Following her performance, both Davis and Griffin embraced her. Whitney married Bobby Brown on July 18, 1992. The couple separated in October 2006 and divorced on April 24, 2007, and they had one daughter together. Houston appeared in several films, with her first starring role in "The Bodyguard" (1992). The soundtrack of the film won the Grammy Award for Album Of The Year in 1994, and her single "I Will Always Love You," a cover of Dolly Parton's song, became one of the best-selling singles in music history.
