Wide Boy Awake was a short-lived British new wave band formed in the early 1980s by Mick Jones of The Clash’s former associate and Adam & the Ants bassist Leigh Gorman. Best known for their danceable, funk-infused track “Chicken Outlaw,” the group blended post-punk energy with eclectic pop sensibilities. Though their recorded output was limited, Wide Boy Awake captured the experimental spirit of early ’80s club culture, earning a cult following among fans of quirky, rhythm-driven new wave music.
