William Lava was an American musical composer, arranger, and conductor, born on March 18, 1911, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He passed away on February 20, 1971, in Los Angeles, California. Lava was a prolific film composer who worked for Walt Disney Productions on the Zorro TV show in the 1950s. He later contributed to Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies animated cartoons starting in 1962, taking over after the death of Milt Franklyn. Additionally, he composed and sang the theme for the popular TV western series Cheyenne. Lava received his education at Northwestern University.
