Willie Bobo, born William Correa on February 28, 1934, in New York City, New York, was an American Latin-jazz percussionist. He played professionally from the early 1950s until his untimely death on September 15, 1983, in Los Angeles, California. Bobo is best remembered as a key player in the fusion of jazz, Latin, soul, and rock influences during the late 1960s and 1970s, significantly shaping the evolving boogaloo style.
