Willie Nix was an American blues singer and drummer born on August 6, 1922, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was active in the Memphis music scene during the 1940s and 1950s. Nix first recorded for RPM in Memphis in 1951 and later recorded at Sun Studio in 1952, with two sides released on Checker and two more on Sun at that time. His final recording session took place for Chance in Chicago, Illinois, in 1953. Throughout his career, he also performed with various backing bands during this period. Willie Nix passed away on July 9, 1991, in Leland, Mississippi.
