Willie Walker was born on December 21, 1941, in Mississippi and was raised in Memphis, where he absorbed the local gospel and soul music influences. In 1959, he moved to Minneapolis and began singing with various gospel groups before transitioning to soul and R&B. Throughout his career, he frequently returned to Memphis to record. Willie Walker passed away in his sleep on November 19, 2019, at the age of 77 in his apartment in St. Paul, Minnesota.
