Winston Samuels was born in 1944 in Kingston, Jamaica, and passed away in 2017, with his death announced on August 24 of that year. He began his recording career in 1961 under the guidance of producer Clement "Coxson" Dodd, with his first release being "In Jail" on the All Stars label, followed by the hit "In Paradise." Samuels achieved notable success with the song "Angela" for producers Nembhard & Henry's N & H label, which became a #1 hit. In 1964, he started recording for L. O. Pottinger's SEP label, producing hits such as "Be Prepared," "You Are The One," and "Come What May." Throughout his career, Samuels also recorded for other producers, including Lloyd "Matador" Daley and Cecil "Prince Buster" Campbell, with notable tracks like "Here I Come Again," "Give To Get," "Peace Of Mind," "Holding Out," and "I'm Still Here." After emigrating to the United States, he recorded for the Clintones label in New York City during the 1970s, with songs like "Let's Get It On" and "Lick It Forward."
