Winter Severity Index is a New Wave project from Rome, Italy, founded in 2009 by Simona Ferrucci, who serves as the singer, guitarist, composer, and songwriter. Initially formed as a traditional band with four young women, they released a self-titled EP in 2010, which was distributed by AF Music and is now nearly sold out. The band garnered positive reviews across Europe and performed in various locations, including Italy, Berlin, and Lisbon, sharing the stage with notable artists from the new wave scene such as Charles de Goal, Phantom Vision, Joy Disaster, and Soviet Soviet. In January 2012, the project transitioned to a duo after two members departed. Simona continued to collaborate with Valentina Fanigliulo, also known as Mushy. Together, they released the track "Embracing the Void" on the Death # Disco Compilation Volume 2 and performed in Italy and Berlin during 2012 and 2013. They also recorded the EP "Survival Rate," which was released on vinyl by Bloodrock Records in May 2013. Simona later partnered with Alessandra Romeo, who plays keyboards and synth with Cat Fud and Bohemien. Their collaboration began in December 2012 when they opened for a gig by The Chameleons' vocalist. This performance featured new song arrangements and marked the start of a new artistic partnership with Alessandra. In the subsequent months, they recorded and released the first full-length album under the Winter Severity
