Wojciech Karolak was a Polish jazz pianist, organist, composer, arranger, and songwriter, born on May 28, 1939, in Warszawa, where he also passed away on June 23, 2021. He debuted as a traditional jazz pianist in 1956 and two years later played saxophone with the Jazz Believers, also collaborating with various groups. In 1962, he formed an eponymous piano trio and was with another group for three years starting in 1963. During his time in Sweden from 1966 to 1973, he continued to work with other musicians. In 1973, he began performing on the B3 Hammond organ and remained with Wróblewski's Mainstream group until 1978. After deciding to focus on composition in 1979, he wrote pop and cabaret songs, primarily set to lyrics by his wife. His career also included larger works.
