Wojciech Kilar was a Polish pianist and composer, born on July 17, 1932, in Lwów. He passed away on December 29, 2013, in Katowice. Kilar was known for his contributions to classical, religious, and film music. He was a prominent figure in the Polish avant-garde movement of the 1960s, alongside notable composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki and Henryk Górecki. Throughout his career, he composed scores for over 100 films across Poland, France, Germany, and Hollywood, collaborating with renowned directors including Roman Polanski, Francis Ford Coppola, and Jane Campion. Kilar was also a Knight of the Order Orła Białego.
