Woody Simmons is an American banjo player and engineer from Seattle. In 1978, she became a staff engineer at John Altmann Recording in San Francisco, where she worked on various projects, including those with Diane Lindsay ("Open Up" 1984), Alix Dobkin ("Never Been Better" 1985), Ancient Future, Malvina Reynolds, Roy Loney and The Phantom Movers, and Robinflower, among others. Woody released her first album, "Oregon Mountains" (Deep River), in 1977, followed by her second album, "Woody Simmons" (Deep River), in 1980. Between 2002 and 2012, she recorded with many artists in her studio, The Vu, including Kitty Rose ("Greatest Hits" 2007), Marca Cassity ("Deeper" 2006), and Jen Todd.
