**World Class Wreckin' Cru Bio** World Class Wreckin' Cru was formed by Compton club owner Alonzo Williams as a mobile DJ crew before transitioning to music recording in 1983. The group, consisting of members Lonzo (Alonzo Williams), Dr. Dre (Andre Young), Cli-N-Tel (Marquette Hawkins), DJ Yella (Antoine Carraby), Shakespeare (Barry Severe), Mona Lisa Young, and Michel'le Toussaint, debuted on Lonzo's Kru-Cut record label in 1984 with the singles "Surgery" and "Juice," which became local electro-rap favorites on the west coast. In 1985, they released their first album, *World Class*. After a lineup change with Shakespeare replacing Cli-N-Tel, the group signed to Epic Records, releasing several singles and their second album, *Rapped In Romance*. In 1986, they enlisted an aspiring rapper to ghostwrite the hit single "House Calls / Cabbage Patch." Despite financial difficulties leading to their disbandment, the slow jam "Before You Turn Off The Lights," featuring Michel'le, became a significant hit across urban and pop charts by early 1988. Following the group's disbandment, Dr. Dre and DJ Yella continued producing music, while Shakespeare pursued a career as a pastor. Michel'le married Dr. Dre and released an album on Ruthless Records.
