Wyclef Jean is a Haitian American rapper, singer, record producer, and politician, born on October 17, 1969. He moved to the United States with his family at the age of nine and has spent much of his life there. Jean gained fame as a member of the acclaimed New Jersey hip hop group the Fugees. In 2010, he filed for candidacy in the Haitian presidential election, but the Electoral Commission ruled him ineligible due to not meeting the residency requirement of five years in Haiti.
