Xex was an all-synthesizer band from South River, New Jersey, formed in 1980 by a trio of high school misfits and friends from Rutgers College. They performed entirely on state-of-the-art Arps, synths, and electronic drums, with no guitars in sight. Aiming for a futuristic sound, their music now serves as a time capsule from the Reagan era. The band was largely forgotten until 1998, when a radio DJ rediscovered their debut album in the WFMU music library and contacted the band members, leading to a CD reissue in 2004 on Smack Shire Records.
