Yama & The Karma Dusters is a Chicago-based band known for their politically charged music. They released only one album, "Up From The Sewers," in 1971, which features excellent folk-rock and psychedelic rhythms. The album was created in response to the Kent State massacre in Ohio and carries a radical message that leaves a sense of bitterness within the listener. The band consisted of Howard Berkman (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Marion L. Favors (percussion), Jerry Field (violin), Alan Goldberg (drums), Dick Larson (piano), Karen Manter (keyboards), Neal Pollack (bass), and Jack Sullivan (bass).
