Yanco Nilovic is a Montenegrin-French composer, arranger, conductor, keyboardist, percussionist, vocalist, and producer, born on May 20, 1941, in Istanbul, Turkey. He has been a resident of France since 1960. Throughout his career, Nilovic has published numerous works, primarily for library labels that are not available for public sale. His musical repertoire encompasses a wide range of genres, including classical, jazz, funk, pop, psychedelic, and easy listening. In 2010, he won a Grammy Award for the rap song "D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune)" alongside Shawn Carter, Ernest Wilson, Gary DeCarlo, Dale Frashuer, Paul Leka, and Dave Sucky. The producer No I.D. sampled Nilovic's song "In The Space" for that track on Jay-Z's album "The Blueprint 3." Other artists who have sampled Nilovic's work include The Beatnuts and Joey Badass. Additionally, the hip-hop producer Dr. Dre sampled much of Nilovic's piece "Underground Session" for his track "Loose Cannons" on the album "Compton."
