**Yancy Derringer Bio** Yancy Derringer was formed in April 1974, originally consisting of C.F. Kuchler (keys), Boyd Williamson (guitar), Gabriel Berrafato (bass), and Lynn "Lance Chance" Gnatzig (drums). The band emerged from a previous group known as Birth, which had its roots in Atlantic Ocean, a band formed by college musicians at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Yancy Derringer gained a dedicated fan base by performing original songs and unique covers of artists like Mott the Hoople, the Rolling Stones, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, including an impressive Led Zeppelin medley. A highlight of their performances was the nine-minute original "Weedburner," featuring Boyd on a Rickenbacker guitar with a light show. In 1975, they released their album "Openers," which received excellent reviews and is considered a collectible. However, underfunding and management issues hindered the album's success, leading to the band's breakup in October 1976. After a brief hiatus, the original members began recording tracks for a second album, "Good Time Strangers," which was never completed. They then introduced singer and 12-string guitarist Gregg Huber, who brought new songs and a different musical direction to the band.
