Yannis Kyriakides, born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1969, is a composer and sound artist renowned for his innovative fusion of traditional performance with digital media. After studying musicology at York University, he pursued composition under Louis Andriessen and Dick Raaijmakers at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Kyriakides has composed nearly 200 works, including music theater, multimedia, and electroacoustic pieces, performed globally by leading ensembles. His accolades include the Gaudeamus Prize for "a conSPIracy cantata" and the International Rostrum of Composers Prize for "Words and Song Without Words."
