Yao Su Rong, also known as Yao Su Yong, was born on December 5, 1945. She is a renowned Taiwanese singer who gained prominence in the late 1960s and 1970s, particularly for her movie theme songs in Taiwanese films. Her rise to fame began with the song "負心的人," but it was the title track for the 1969 film "今天不回家" that propelled her to stardom in the Chinese-speaking world. After facing a ban from singing in Taiwan due to a controversial performance and failing to provide a song list for that concert, she sought opportunities in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to advance her career. Now retired, Yao Su Rong lives a quiet life in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, yet her legacy endures. She declined a performance at the 1998 Golden Horse Awards, and a 1996 remake of "今天不回家" still features her original song. Additionally, the 2020 film "Tigertail" showcased her song "偷心的人," bringing renewed attention to her work. Her songs remain popular, solidifying her place in the history of Chinese pop music.
