Yasunao Tone (b. 1935, Tokyo; d. May 12, 2025) was a pioneering Japanese artist known for his contributions to "events" and improvisational music. As one of the founding members of Japan's Fluxus movement, he played a significant role in various important music and performance groups, including Group Ongaku, Hi-Red Center, and Team Random, which was the first computer art group organized in Japan. Primarily a composer, Tone worked across multiple media, creating pieces for electronics, computer systems, film, radio, television, and environmental art. He was also a trailblazer in the use of prepared CDs.
