Yorgos Mangas, born on August 23, 1952, in Leivadia, is a contemporary Greek clarinetist of Romani origin, renowned for his unique interpretation of Balkan folk music. Although his father was a famous clarinetist and he initially aspired to become a doctor, Yorgos became a self-taught flute and clarinet player at the age of 18 and began performing in Greece. His talent quickly garnered international attention, leading him to participate in festivals across France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, the UK, and Canada. MTV recognized him as "The Greek Phenomenon of the Balkan Jazz."
