Young American Primitive, also known as Scanavino, is a prominent American producer and remixer who emerged from the Bay Area's early 90s house scene. He gained recognition for his several 12" releases and a full-length CD on the San Francisco-based label ZoëMagik, along with appearances on various compilations. His track "These Waves" was notably included in Sasha and Digweed's Northern Exposure mix album. In 1996, impressed by his remixing skills, Geffen Records signed Scanavino, leading to the completion of his second full-length album, "African Cosmopolitan," in late 1997. The track "Beyond" was set for single release in November 1997, accompanied by a music video from San Francisco's Mind's Eye Media, but neither the single nor the album was released, and he was subsequently dropped from the label. After a brief return to the electronic music scene in 2001, Scanavino worked on remix duties for two popular progressive house tracks and collaborated with producer and DJ Jimmy Van M and vocalist Terra Deva on the track "Forget Time." In 2005, he contributed "Voyage To The Great Attractor" to DJ Jonathan Lisle for the second volume of Bedrock's Original Series, but has remained largely inactive since then.
