Young Flowers was a Danish psychedelic and progressive rock trio formed in Copenhagen in the summer of 1967. The band consisted of Jens Dahl (lead guitar), Peter Ingemann (bass, vocals), and Ken Gudman (drums). They began rehearsing original songs at Ingemann's father's farm in Ordrup, Gentofte Kommune, and made their public debut on September 10, 1967, at the Falkoner Centre in Frederiksberg, where they received rave reviews, with the only criticism being their volume. In the same year, the band released their debut single, "Like Birds" b/w "City of Friends." Following the release, Jens Dahl left due to health issues and was replaced by another guitarist. This lineup gained significant popularity in Denmark, particularly through the television series "Blomsterpistolen" (The Flower Pistol), where they stood out for using Danish lyrics in their progressive rock music. Initially inspired by various rock bands, Young Flowers gradually moved toward a more blues-influenced and experimental sound. They frequently collaborated with guest artists, including saxophonists and vocalists, on their records and performances.
