Yusuke Hirado is a talented jazz pianist born in Nagasaki, Japan. He began playing piano at the age of 4, influenced by his father, the owner of a jazz café, and his mother, a classical piano teacher. His passion for jazz developed through his father's extensive record collection, and he started performing on stage during junior high school. During high school, Hirado participated in the Manhattan School of Music's summer workshop in New York, where he earned the highest award by playing in the top-level combo. After graduating high school, he moved to the United States to attend the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music in New York, studying jazz under the mentorship of Walter Bishop Jr. In 1995, he enjoyed a successful tour in Japan with Richard Davis and Winard Harper. After completing his university education, he returned to Japan, settled in Tokyo, and formed the jazz band "quasimode." In 2012, he released his first solo album, "Speak Own Words," which received positive acclaim from fans and critics alike. In February 2015, the members of "quasimode" decided to pause the band to focus on their solo careers, and Hirado is set to release his long-awaited second solo album, "Voyage," in April 2015.
