**Bio of Led Zeppelin** Real Name: Zed Leppelin Led Zeppelin was an English rock band active from 1968 to 1980, during which they recorded eight studio albums. The band formed from the remnants of The Yardbirds, with Jimmy Page playing a pivotal role in the group's transition. After the Yardbirds' inactivity in 1967, Page returned to session work and played on a track arranged by John Paul Jones. In the spring of 1968, Jones expressed interest in joining any future project Page would develop. Following the departure of key members from The Yardbirds in the summer of 1968, Page and bassist John Paul Jones were left with the rights to the band's name and the responsibility of fulfilling an upcoming tour. Page sought a new vocalist and drummer, initially considering Terry Reid and B.J. Wilson, but ultimately reached out to Robert Plant, who was performing with Hobbstweedle. Led Zeppelin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 as a Performer.
