Zilla Mayes, also known as Zilla Mays Hinton, was an American R&B and gospel singer born on September 1, 1931. She passed away on September 19, 1995. Mayes gained recognition as a popular radio DJ and community leader in Atlanta, making history as the first African-American female radio announcer in Georgia and only the third in the United States.
