Zion Train is a dub, reggae, and dance group currently based in Cologne, Germany. The group was initially formed in 1988 in Oxford, UK, as a sound system by Neil Perch and Ben Hamilton. In 1990, Colin Cod and Dave Tench joined the group following its relocation to London. The original lineup expanded in 1992 with the addition of vocalist Molara. By around 2001, Dubdadda became the lead vocalist, and Cod, Tench, and Molara departed from the lineup. Zion Train's live performances are flexible, ranging from a duo of Perch and a vocalist for sound-system gigs to a larger ensemble for bigger events. Since approximately 2007, the group has been centered around Perch, featuring a varying lineup of vocalists and musicians, often including Dave Hake and Dubdadda. They also own and operate their Abassi Sound System. Notable members have included Colin Cod (melodica/production, 1990-2001), David Tench (production, 1990-2001), Molara (vocals, 1992-2001), Dave Hake (trumpet), and Forkbeard (trombone).
