Zomes is a musical duo consisting of Asa Osborne and Hanna, marking a new stage in their evolution with the album "Time Was." This album represents their first studio recordings, moving away from previous methods of using a cassette deck. Their collaboration began when Asa met Hanna at the Perspectives Festival in Sweden, where she impressed him by improvising vocals during his performance. This led to an improvised performance together at an art gallery in Stockholm and an invitation for Hanna to join Asa on stage at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City, concluding his tour with Beach House. In September and October of 2012, Hanna traveled to Baltimore to record "Time Was" at Tempo House. These recordings are the first Zomes tracks captured in a studio, showcasing an immersive sound that reflects their live performances. The album signifies an expansion of the Zomes aesthetic, highlighting the natural collaboration between the two artists. While there are connections to Asa's previous work with Lungfish, the partnership with Hanna has allowed them to build on that foundation and reach new creative heights.
