A hip hop fiend since pre-teen childhood, Benjamin Hatton was first introduced to the culture during the late 1980s Def Jam era of artists such as Run DMC and Public Enemy and immediately began a life-long obsession with discovering obscure rap music and breakbeats. The main focus of Benjamin’s interest in hip hop has always been in the DJ side of things, but he has also put in years of work on drum machines and samplers and even occasionally picked up the mic as an MC. Currently, he runs the “Hypocritical Beatdown” label along with fellow ROVR host and Finders Keepers Records head honcho Andy Votel. Benjamin is also a member of Magnets (Rap Group) and may even be remembered by some keen-eyed UK hip-hop fans as a member of Mongrels.
