Hailing from Land's End, Cornwall, it seems fated that Kyle Lonsdale would end up a fan of folk music. Though her taste has evolved to include psychedelia, ethnomusicology, and (most) rock derivatives, it is the more esoteric tributaries of folk's mighty river of song that has been a constant in her record collection. Coming up, as many music industry stalwarts do, through the fiery baptism of record shop life, Lonsdale spent time at London's iconic Rough Trade before moving on to manage the archival imprint Earth Recordings, representing artists such as Bert Jansch, Shirley Collins, Anne Briggs, The Russian composer Mikael Tariverdiev, Fairport Convention's original vocalist Judy Dyble and Sandra Kerr & John Faulkner by way of the cult 1970s TV phenomenon Bagpuss. She has written for Record Collector, hosted events at Celtic Connections, Green Man Festival, Sea Change and beyond, and sequenced a great many records, notably the soundtrack to the biopic film, 'The Ballad of Shirley Collins'.
