
Mamiko Motto is the founder and driving force behind record label GASS. The composer, sound artist and music director first started making international waves through her involvement in the formation of NTS. She has gained recognition as a tastemaker and music director working across film, fashion, museum and high-end events and has a growing reputation for her curatorial work with digital arts. She has been recognised for having ‘an ear for new music that bends the rules’ (The Fader) and for ‘constantly uncovering tucked-away records and underrated artists’ (Dazed and Confused). She has released music on WARP Records and Big Dada as Wednesday Nite, and put the crucial Amada compilation together for All City Records. At GASS the ideas and passions which have always informed her approach to music and sound now drive her work with art and technology, creating new opportunities for creative collaboration - with an always forward leaning vision. Mamiko is also known for her music connoisseurship and diverse curation and mixing of different styles together to build sonic narratives that transport audiences, whether in a museum, an intimate event or a super club. She has a vast knowledge of cinematic scores, jazz fusion, hip hop, disco, house and techno, blending them together with a craftsmanship that can surprise and delight in any environment through a deep connection with her audience. Mamiko Motto’s career highlights include: Playing on radio stations in London, Brussels, Paris, Tokyo and multiple ones in Australia, NTS, Red Bull Radio and Triple J, as well as a live set on Boiler Room; Many festivals including Horst Festival 2023, Rockhal 2022, Audra Festival 2022, Sonar, Summer Sonic, Soundwave, Mutek, Bestival andhosting the Roskilde Stage in 2016; Touring with Warp across the world from Japan and Australia, via Europe, and across the US; Running DJ residencies at Wiels Museum, Kiosk Radio. Previously Hoxton, Ace Hotel in London & LA; Organising and curating music shows in Tokyo, Paris, Brussels, London, New York & LA, as well as at Tate Britain, The Royal Albert Hall and NXT Museum Amsterdam; Music direction and sound design for fashion brands including Paul Smith TOKYOSS26 / PARIS SS24; Solid Homme PAW23; YUME YUME MAW23, Solid Homme FW23, The Fabricant, , Isamaya Ffrench; and featured on It’s Nice That, Vogue, and Dazed and Confused; Playing gigs alongside Denis Sulta, Honey Dijon, Sally C, Gilles Peterson, Benji B, Kraftwerk, Flying Lotus and Kelis and many more as well as a long term collaborator with Hudson Mohawke.
